LOOKING AFTER OUR MENTAL WELLBEING DURING COVID 19

With the outbreak of COVID 19 we have found ourselves in new and unknown territory. There has been an enormous impact on our lives, in many ways, such as isolation, financial pressure, health worries and separation from loved ones. Some of us may be struggling with adapting to this “new normal” and perhaps dealing with feelings of anxiety, worry and fear. These are all perfectly natural responses but it is important that we do not become consumed or overwhelmed by these feelings.

At Complete Corporate Wellness we are mindful of understanding how to manage growing anxiety and would like to offer the following tips to share with your team;

Manage your exposure to media coverage - Obsessing too much on every news update or press release can increase feelings of fear and anxiety. Be mindful of sources of information and ensure you are accessing credible and accurate information.

Staying active -  by maintaining routines where possible, keeping physically active, eating nutritious foods and trying to maintain a sleep schedule will all contribute positively to our mental wellbeing.

Mindfulness through practicing mindfulness we can help to alleviate our stress and anxiety. Other positive effects that might be felt are increased concentration, cognition and focus. It can give us the tools we need to feel back in control during challenging life moments.

Stay connected, Stay compassionate – This is a particularly challenging time for everyone and often in ways unique to us as individuals. Remembering that reaching out and showing kindness and support during these times of fear, isolation (both physical and social) and uncertainty are so important. We have so many ways of staying in touch without making physical contact so pick up the phone, send a text or have a Facetime and keep your community active.
